According to
boakes.org Apple is building a giant ipod display which can be viewed from outerspace or from
Google Earth for most of us. I love this idea. Is it for real? The most plausible part of the story was that Steve Jobs won the central australian dis-used coalmine site in a game of Poker with Kerry Packer. My neighbour once won a bet with Kerry Packer on who would start smoking again sooner. She won and he bought her a BMW.

I am loving the newly launched Google Finance. Previously (on 24) I used to use a combination of MSN, Yahoo, E*Trade, Internaxx and some investment blogs. Each had some features I liked, none had everything. I haven't tested all the new features but so far Google Finance is looking great - for a start you can search for a company by symbol or company name (Yahoo! why was this so hard?!). The charts are interactive, linked with news reports, there's a list of related companies, and integration with blogs and message boards. Pity the market looks set to fall...
Here's a telling commentary from Yahoo's Jeremy's Zawodny: Why Google Finance makes me sad.

I could begin this by saying, "I'm not usually into personality tests..." but that would be a lie. I love them.
This one: Personal DNA has a funky interface with sliders and 2x2 maps. I turned out to be an
Encouraging Creator which I thought was very inspiring until my sister-in-law took the test and became a "Benevolent Leader"!

At my company, people used to "think" in Powerpoint. Before going on maternity leave, I had over 1000 .ppt files on my laptop. On average I must have read or created two powerpoint presentations per day.. a pathalogical condition by any standards. I've been cold turkey for 6 months and am completely cured.
